ToggleChallenging the Programming
One of my favorite quotes. Father to son in “The Pursuit of Happyness”:
“Never let anyone tell you what is possible for you. Not even me. If you have a dream, you have to protect it. People who can’t do something themselves will tell you that you can’t do it either. If you want something, go get it. Period.”
Programming begins in childhood.
Allowed – not allowed
Good – bad
Don’t touch, don’t move, it burns, ouch, leave it. Some of this programming is, of course, reasonable and serves us. It serves to prevent us from breaking, getting hurt, or worse. A little being needs to know how to move in the World where they’re learning to live.
The Influence of Surroundings and Education
However, sometimes within this desire for good, subconscious programs of our parents are smuggled in. We hear for the first time what, according to them, is possible or not possible for us. Who we can become or not become. We are fortunate if we had conscious parents, but there’s a good chance that they simply didn’t have knowledge about what’s best, so according to their knowledge, they did what they thought was best for us. They wanted to warn us about the dangers of this world or the failures they experienced. They wanted to pass on their knowledge and experience in the best way they knew how.
The next stage is school. Just as I don’t remember my parents implanting their beliefs in my head, I remember very well the programs of the teachers and the frameworks they imposed in school. Some of them, departing from good frameworks, wanting to broaden horizons and encourage reaching for more. Others, within less favorable frameworks, often from their own dissatisfaction with how their lives turned out, killed dreams before they even sprouted.
Breaking Free from Imposed Structures
The very frameworks of traditional school models are built in such a way that if you don’t adapt, you’ll be tempered until you become like everyone else. And surely you need to accept the “rules” and act according to them. Then, in the workplace, the programs of our bosses, partners, colleagues who we allow to influence us.
Choosing a Different Path
Who Shapes Your Potential? We can take a different path. And the first step on it is: Awareness. Everything starts from there. Without it, programs launch within us, and we’re like a computer that has opened too many and needs to close some of them to operate faster. And some greatly slow us down, sometimes even preventing us from working properly. If you want to log into your operating system and tidy up a bit, I invite you to Paweł “Wiking” ‘s webinar in his company: Saga Wewnętrznej Wojny (Saga of Inner War), where he helps ordinary people do extraordinary things, starting from step number. What belief do you know was in you and you got rid of, which didn’t serve you?
